Integrated Design

light bulbIntegrated design is the consideration and design of all building systems and components together. It recognizes that each discipline’s recommendation have an impact on other aspects of the building and allows professionals working in various disciplines to take advantage of efficiencies that are not apparent when they work in isolation.

For the Cleveland Charter High School Comprehensive Modernization Project, the Architect, Engineers, Contractor, Commissioning Agent, and School District began working in collaboration two years before any dirt was moved on the site.

The collaboration resulted in a high performance school which maximizes the health and performance of students and staff; conserves energy, water, and other resources in order to save precious operating dollars; and minimizes the material waste, pollution, and environmental degradation created by the school.
