Don't leave any vuluables within reach of students.
Make sure students understand classroom boundaries.
Never provide your keys to a student.
Make sure to lock your classroom whenever you leave.
Never leave students without adult supervision.

Helpful Hints
  • Post and communicate your classroom rules and behavioral expectations.
  • Consequences should be progressive and appropriate.
  • Be consistent in the implementation of your classroom rules.
  • Be FIRM, FAIR, and FRIENDLY; do not escalate or provoke.
  • Model the behavior that you require of your students.
  • Communicate with the student’s parents/guardians at the first sign of defiance or disruption.
  • Condemn the behavior; do not condemn the individual.
  • Students respond well when they realize that the teacher and parents have a frequent and open line of communication.

Print and post Hall Pass, Tardies and E-device policies, Dress Code policies.
 
Print and implement a Behavior Plan.  Use it to monitor student's behavior and as a tool of communication. 
 
Open the document HEART mediating center..., and refer students who are presently having tensions with each other.
