Looking ahead –

  • Spring semester finals are Monday and Tuesday, June 5-6. Dismissal is at 3:27 PM on those days.
  • TIES Days are Wednesday through Friday, June 7-9. We will be on a minimum day schedule June 7-9 with a 1:07 PM dismissal.
  • Locker Cleanout will take place on June 8. Any item left in a locker will be discarded or donated.
  • The last day of spring semester for students is Friday, June 9.

School Bus Transportation: Ninth, 10th, and 11th grade students in the magnet and residential schools who currently do not receive school bus transportation – this is a reminder that you will be eligible for school bus transportation this fall. You should have received a link from your ELA teacher to complete an interest survey in order to determine possible bus stops. Whether you plan to take the school bus every day or you might take the school bus, please complete the survey. You must use your LAUSD email address. AP Testing continues this week. There will be no announcements during AP exams.

This is Teacher Appreciation Week. Join ASB on the Quad this Wednesday at lunch to express thanks for their hard work.

Bus Transportation in 23-24: Our application requesting bus transportation for residential school students (non-Magnet) has been approved by the District. 

This means that school bussing will be available to both magnet and non-magnet students in 2023-2024. Cavaliers interested in District bus services will be asked to complete a Google Form that will be sent out in the next week or so. Whether you absolutely plan to take the bus or even if you might use it next school year, please complete the form and indicate a preferred stop (all stops listed are in the San Fernando Valley). Bus stops will be determined based on responses, driver availability, and bus capacity. More information is forthcoming.

COVID Test: The District recommendation is that students and employees take a COVID test prior to returning from extended breaks. Those who have tested positive within the past 90 days do not need to take a test. Rapid tests were distributed before spring break and should be administered 24-48 hours prior to the return to school/work. If you test negative, no further action is required. If you test positive, upload the result onto Daily Pass and follow isolation protocols.

State Testing: All students in 11th grade will take the California Science Test (CAST) this Tuesday and Wednesday through their science classes. Twelfth grade students who did not take it last year will be summonsed on Thursday to take the exam.

TIES Day: This Thursday is our first Targeted Intervention and Enrichment Support (TIES) Day. Teachers in all classes should be using class time to provide intervention or enrichment, as needed, to students.

COVID Rapid Test: The District recommendation is that students and employees take a COVID test prior to returning from extended breaks. Those who have tested positive within the past 90 days do not need to take a test. Rapid tests were distributed before winter break and should be administered 24-48 hours prior to the return to school/work. If you test negative, no further action is required. If you test positive, upload the result onto Daily Pass and follow isolation protocols.

 

Students Absent on January 9: Students who are absent on the first day of school may pick up their schedules from the Counseling Office starting January 10.

 

Class Changes: Students may not change their class schedules on the first day of school. Students who would like to make any changes may Schoology message their counselors or fill out a Request to See Counselor form available in the Counseling Office starting Tuesday, January 10. Forms are due no later than January 27 and students may not drop or add a class after February 3.

 

Looking ahead: There will be no school on Monday, January 16 in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr’s birthday.
