Instructional Calendar: The 2022-2023 instructional calendar has been updated and last week of spring semester information is now available. Spring semester finals are Monday, June 5 and Tuesday, June 6. Graduation will be on Wednesday, June 7. We will be on minimum day schedules June 7 – June 9 to allow students opportunities to receive intervention, career and college planning, and additional academic and personal support. Friday, June 9 is the last day of spring semester instruction for students and Monday, June 12 is a pupil-free day.

 

Black Student Leadership Conference: Cleveland is hosting this all-day event on Monday. Invited students received an activity slip last week.

 

College and Career Readiness Day: We will be hosting all-day activities this Wednesday. Please remember to wear your career and college gear. There will be a lunchtime event on the Quad and we will be part of the Local District and Board Member’s tour of schools that day. We encourage everyone to attend. Let’s show our Cleveland pride.

 

College Night for Juniors: We will be hosting College Knowledge Night for the Class of 2024 this Thursday at 6 PM in the Dining Hall. It will also be available via Zoom: 845-6243-2941

Halloween Costumes: Student Leadership encourages all Cavaliers to support our School Spirit Dress Days. Clothing must be in the spirit of school rules/dress code for modest, appropriate dress. The administration reserves the right to direct any student inappropriately dressed to change into PE Clothes or other appropriate clothing for the remainder of the school day. For safety and health regulations, shoes must conform to the Dress Code standards. No item of clothing may be worn and no prop may be brought to school if it does any of the following:

  • may be construed as demeaning to any person or groups based on age, disability, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, nationality, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, or to any individual staff or student at the school
  • contains discriminatory, profane, vulgar, sexually suggestive, obscene, threatening, or libelous language;
  • advertises/promotes consumption of alcohol, tobacco, drugs/drug paraphernalia, or use of weapons;
  • represents or is associated with gang membership;
  • causes a significant disruption or distraction to the school program 

Additionally, for Halloween

  1. Masks may not completely obscure the identity of the student;
  2. Masks may be worn during specific school spirit activity at lunch, provided that safety is not hindered;
  3. Costumes may NOT include props such as real, replica, or fake guns/ knives/other weapons/dangerous objects, or any item that is not allowed on campus.

College Night for Seniors: Seniors and their parents are invited to College Night this Thursday at 6 PM. It is via Zoom.

Football Spirit Day: ASB invites you to participate in Football Spirit Day this Thursday. Wear your favorite NFL team jersey, t-shirt, or other apparel to kick of the start of the season.

ID Picture Makeup Day: Students who have not taken their ID/yearbook pictures should do so this Friday in the Library.

Permanent Program Day: The deadline to drop a class is this Friday.

BSAP Assembly will be Monday during periods 1 and 2 in the Dining Hall. Students who are attending were provided with an activity slip for the event last week.  

Shelter-in-Place Drill: We will conduct a shelter-in-place drill on Tuesday during period 1. During such an emergency, students are moved (or remain) inside for their safety because there is an environmental or chemical threat to the well-being of students. Shelter-in-place uses school buildings to provide protection from the outdoor environment.

Back-to-School Night is in-person this Wednesday. Select program meetings will begin at 5 PM and period-by-period classroom presentations will begin starting at 5:30 PM.

Rapid Antigen Tests: All students had the opportunity to pick up two rapid antigen tests last week during textbook distribution. Please make sure to self-administer a test before returning to school on Monday. If students test negative, come onto campus. If students test positive, please make sure to upload the results on Daily Pass and follow isolation protocols: https://achieve.lausd.net/covidfaq.

Student ID Pictures will be this Monday and Tuesday. Eleventh and 12th grade students will take pictures on Monday through their social studies classes. Ninth and 10th grade students will take pictures through their PE/Athletics classes.  Students with 0 period classes will be sent starting at 7:50 AM to take their pictures. Tenth grade students without PE, or 9th and 10th grade students with an athletic class period 7, may go before school, during nutrition, or at lunch to take their photos. August 14

School begins Monday, August 15. Period 1 starts at 8:30 AM and period 6 ends at 3:27 PM. Zero period meets on the first day.  Check Schoology for class information or go on the school website for details.  Classes will also be posted in front of the school on Monday. 

Entrances and Exits: There will be three entrances and exits before school and at dismissal. Unless students have a zero period class, please do not arrive at school earlier than 8 AM.  

  • Main entrance outside the Administration Building
  • Double gates between A Hall and the Gym 
  • Double gates between F Hall and the Cafeteria

The only entrance after 8:30 AM will be outside the Administration Building.
