Looking Ahead: Cleveland will administer the PSAT 8/9 for 9th graders and the PSAT/NMSQT for 10th and 11th graders on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 from 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. The test is free. This is a regular school day and attendance is expected for all students. More details to follow. Please plan accordingly.

Financial Aid Night for Seniors: Seniors and their parents are invited to attend this important event on Monday evening in the Big Gym or via Zoom. Our goal is 100% submission of FAFSA/CADAA for the Class of 2023. 

Cocoa with the Counselors: Our first Cocoa with the Counselors of the school year will be this Thursday at 11:30 AM in the Parent Center. Families may also join via Zoom. All visitors on campus must go through the District’ Health Screening questions.

Cleveland Governance Council: Our first in-person governance council meeting will be this Tuesday at 3:45 PM in the Principal’s Conference Room.

Parent Conferencing is available Tuesday, September 6 during teacher prep periods. Conferences may be in-person, via Zoom, or by phone depending on parent request.

College Night for Seniors: Seniors and their parents are invited to College Night this Thursday at 6 PM. It is via Zoom.

Football Spirit Day: ASB invites you to participate in Football Spirit Day this Thursday. Wear your favorite NFL team jersey, t-shirt, or other apparel to kick of the start of the season.

ID Picture Makeup Day: Students who have not taken their ID/yearbook pictures should do so this Friday in the Library.

Permanent Program Day: The deadline to drop a class is this Friday.

BSAP Assembly will be Monday during periods 1 and 2 in the Dining Hall. Students who are attending were provided with an activity slip for the event last week.  

Shelter-in-Place Drill: We will conduct a shelter-in-place drill on Tuesday during period 1. During such an emergency, students are moved (or remain) inside for their safety because there is an environmental or chemical threat to the well-being of students. Shelter-in-place uses school buildings to provide protection from the outdoor environment.

Back-to-School Night is in-person this Wednesday. Select program meetings will begin at 5 PM and period-by-period classroom presentations will begin starting at 5:30 PM.

COVID Protocols: Some of the current District safety guidelines are as follows:

  • No Daily Pass QR code needs to be generated; instead, please adhere to the health screening questions (attached).
  • Masks are highly recommended, but not required.
  • No weekly PCR testing; instead, we will conduct response testing for symptomatic students and staffs using rapid antigen tests.
  • If a student tests positive for COVID, please upload the test result immediately into Daily Pass.

Rapid Antigen Tests: All students had the opportunity to pick up two rapid antigen tests last week during textbook distribution. Please make sure to self-administer a test before returning to school on Monday. If students test negative, come onto campus. If students test positive, please make sure to upload the results on Daily Pass and follow isolation protocols: https://achieve.lausd.net/covidfaq.

Student ID Pictures will be this Monday and Tuesday. Eleventh and 12th grade students will take pictures on Monday through their social studies classes. Ninth and 10th grade students will take pictures through their PE/Athletics classes.  Students with 0 period classes will be sent starting at 7:50 AM to take their pictures. Tenth grade students without PE, or 9th and 10th grade students with an athletic class period 7, may go before school, during nutrition, or at lunch to take their photos. August 14

School begins Monday, August 15. Period 1 starts at 8:30 AM and period 6 ends at 3:27 PM. Zero period meets on the first day.  Check Schoology for class information or go on the school website for details.  Classes will also be posted in front of the school on Monday. 

Entrances and Exits: There will be three entrances and exits before school and at dismissal. Unless students have a zero period class, please do not arrive at school earlier than 8 AM.  

  • Main entrance outside the Administration Building
  • Double gates between A Hall and the Gym 
  • Double gates between F Hall and the Cafeteria

The only entrance after 8:30 AM will be outside the Administration Building.
