College Signing Day: Wear your favorite college gear and join us on the Quad this Wednesday at lunch to celebrate the postsecondary commitments of our Class of 2022.  

Coffee with the Administrators: Join us for our Coffee with the Administrators this Thursday on campus at 10 AM in the Parent Center. All visitors must either show proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test from the week of May 23 in order to enter campus.

2022-2023 Regular Day Bell Schedule: The Cleveland Governance Council has approved the regular day bell schedule for the 2022-2023 school year. Information was posted on Schoology. The PD schedule for the next school year is forthcoming.

5/8/22:

Updated Close Contact Guidelines: As of May 4, the District has issued new guidelines for close contacts of positive COVID-19 cases. Any student or staff who shares the same indoor airspace, including a classroom, at school with an infected person during the infectious period for 15 cumulative minutes or more over a 24-hour period must now wear a highly protective mask at all times indoors (except when eating or drinking) for 10 days following the last date of exposure. These close contacts must also continue to participate in weekly testing.

Asymptomatic students and staff close contacts who recovered from a recent positive COVID-19 test within the last 90 days are exempt from testing but must wear a highly protective mask at school/work around others indoors for 10 days after the last date of exposure.

Notifications will be sent via Schoology to inform students and staff of the classrooms with possible exposures.

4/17/22:

Rapid Antigen Testing: Students who were on campus Thursday or Friday prior to spring break received rapid antigen tests during period 1. If students did not take the test on Saturday, April 16, please make sure to do so by Sunday, April 17.  If your child tests negative, no action is required and your child may attend school on Monday, April 18. If, however, your child tests POSITIVE, PLEASE DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD TO SCHOOL Monday. 4/3/22:

Shortened Day Schedule for Monday and Tuesday: Period 1 starts at 8:30 AM this Monday. Additionally, we will be on a shortened day schedule on April 4 and April 5. Period 6 will end at 2:32 PM Monday and Tuesday. Zero period still starts at 7:27 AM. Please plan accordingly.

WASC Accreditation Visit, Monday-Wednesday: This is a reminder that we will have our WASC Accreditation team conducting its visit virtually this Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. The visiting committee will be observing classes via Zoom. Let’s keep showing our Cleveland pride.

Presidents Day Observed: There will be no school Monday, February 21 in observance of Presidents Day. School will resume on Tuesday.
 
Mask Update: Please note that starting the week of February 21, LAUSD will make OUTDOOR masking at schools OPTIONAL for all students and staff. As of now, all students and staff must continue to wear non-cloth masks indoors. 
  • Students must wear a well-fitting, non-cloth mask of multiple layers of non-woven material with a nose wire or cloth masks that meet American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) standards for high filtration efficiency (ASTM F3502-Level 2) or have a particle filtration efficiency of at least 95%.
  • Masks must be worn at all times indoors, including during indoor sports and indoor extracurricular activities.
  • Unmasking indoors may only occur when eating or drinking and should happen distanced from others.

PD Schedule on Monday: This is a reminder that on Monday, period 1 will begin at 9:34 AM. Zero period still starts at 7:27 AM. Please plan accordingly.

Updated LAUSD Exposure Management Guidelines During "Surge": As of January 24, the following is now in effect as a part of LACDPH' surge protocol. As with everything, this is subject to change. 

  • Fully Vaccinated:  Both students and staff are considered to be "fully vaccinated" two weeks after their primary COVID-19 vaccine series (two doses of Pfizer or Moderna, or one dose of Janssen's Johnson and Johnson).
  • Ongoing Weekly Testing Through February: Testing will continue for students and employees, regardless of vaccination status. Anyone who has had a positive COVID-19 test in the previous 90 days is exempt from the weekly, in-school PCR testing. This week, we will test Tuesday, January 25.
  • Upgraded Masks: Students will be required to wear a non-cloth mask with a nose wire at all times, including while participating in athletic activities.
  • TK-12 Close Contacts Will Remain On Campus: In accordance with LACDPH guidelines, all students and employees on campus will be treated as if they are a close contact, and will remain on campus as long as they remain asymptomatic and participate in the weekly testing.
    • Families will not receive individual close contact notifications.
    • These students can participate in sports and before- and after-school programs, as long as they do not have any symptoms, continue testing negative. and wear a well-fitted mask during these activities.
    • If a student develops symptoms or tests positive, they must isolate immediately and follow home isolation protocols. 
  • At-Home Close Contacts: Students exposed to COVID-19 outside of school must still participate in at-home quarantine unless they are fully vaccinated or recovered from COVID-19 in the last 90 days. 

Vaccination Clinic: Students may get their vaccine or booster shot at Cleveland on Monday, January 24 from 12 PM to 7 PM. All students 17 or younger must have a signed consent form when they come to get their first and second vaccine, or booster. The form was sent via Schoology to all students. If students are coming for a second dose or booster, they must bring their vaccination card.

Dr. King, Jr’s Birthday Observed: There will be no school Monday, January 17 in observance of Dr. King’s birthday. School will resume on Tuesday.

1/9/22:

Pupil-Free Day, January 10: Monday is a pupil-free day for students. If students have not taken the baseline COVID test to return to campus, Cleveland’s Library is a testing site this Monday from 8 AM to 4 PM.  

Information Meeting, January 10: We invite you to join us for a Zoom Webinar this Monday at 6 PM to receive the latest information available to us regarding the start of the spring semester and to learn about the District’s new guidelines for COVID exposure management and what it means for students and families. Student Schedules: Student schedules will be posted on the school website. Students may message counselors via email or Schoology, as needed. Program adjustment forms will be available in the Counseling Office on January 11 for those who need to drop a class. Spring schedules will also be distributed through period 1 classes on Tuesday. Note that if a student’s schedule indicates a room starting with the letter H, that corresponds to classrooms in the new two-story building. If a student’s schedule has a room number starting with the letter I, that corresponds to classrooms in the new three-story building.    

First Day of Spring Instruction, January 11: Tuesday is the first day of spring semester instruction. Period 1 starts at 8:30 AM and period 6 ends at 3:38 PM. Zero period meets at 7:27 AM.

Baseline Testing Requirement for In-Person Return: Remember, all students returning for in-person instruction must have a current, negative COVID-19 PCR test taken January 3 or later, or a rapid (antigen) test administered between January 8 and January 10, uploaded onto the Daily Pass system in order to come to campus January 11. However, if a student has tested positive prior to January 3 and has a 90-day testing exemption documented in Daily Pass, the student will be allowed on campus.

  • All students must wear a mask that covers both the mouth and nose at all times on campus, unless actively eating or drinking. A well-fitting non-cloth mask is recommended, but not required at this time.
