Week of May 11th:

AP Exams begin this week. Good luck to all our test takers. If you are taking an exam and have not received any emails from the CollegeBoard, make sure to go to myapp.collegeboard.org to verify the email address you have on file.

This is a reminder that we have posted the District interim grading guidelines that are in effect until June 30th on our school website.

Seniors, please remember to complete the College Office Survey to indicate where you want your transcript sent after graduation and please do the Naviance Senior Exit Survey. Both are requirements for senior clearance.

Looking ahead: the last day of instruction for seniors is May 28. We are finalizing the process for locker cleanout and senior clearances prior to graduation.  We will share the details soon.

Additionally, the last day of instruction for grades 9 though 11 is June 11.

Week of May 4th:

Our local district is hosting a K-12 Cleveland Cabinet Town Hall event this Friday at 10 AM.  The flyer is available on the school website and on Schoology.

Students taking the AP Exam this month: by now, your AP teachers should have talked about procedures for the AP Exam. On Monday, you should receive your E- Ticket for your first exam. Your AP number for all your exams will be on the E- Ticket.  If you are not getting emails from the CollegeBoard, verify the email you have on file at myap.collegeboard.org.  Additionally, the last day to request a refund for an AP exam you paid for but do not plan to take is May 9th.  The form is available on the College Office website.

This year, there will be no separate final exam schedule for students.  Teachers will use the current modified virtual bell schedule during finals week, starting June 8th.

Seniors, there are several surveys you must complete if you have not done so: the first is the College Office survey sent to you by your counselors. This is important as you will need to indicate where you want your high school transcript sent after you graduate.  The survey is also available on the chscollegeoffice.org website. The second is a Graduation Survey sent to you by your English teacher.  You need to complete this survey in order to get your cap and gown sent to you this year.  The District has also added a Naviance Senior Exit Survey and College Readiness Survey, both of which are available in Naviance.  Make sure to complete all surveys as part of the diploma clearance process.

Important information for seniors: last day of instruction for seniors is Thursday, May 28th.  Make sure you plan accordingly.  The first two weeks of June will be used for activities and clearances needed prior to graduation participation and diploma issuance.

Week of April 27th:

This week AP teachers will be hosting Informational Meetings to go over course expectations for the fall and to discuss summer assignments.  The Zoom Meeting IDs were posted on Schoology last week.

There are several application deadlines this week for students interested in a variety of co-curricular activities: Academic Decathlon applications are due Monday; Yearbook staff applications are due Thursday; ASB Leadership applications are due Friday.  Applications are available on Schoology and through the Cleveland Instagram.

Please note that while the District does have a new grading policy in place for the spring semester that allows students to maintain or raise their academic grades, the work habits and cooperation grades can still go up or down.  Additionally, if students receive a D on the final report card, they will be enrolled in summer school.

Seniors, don’t forget that this Friday is National Signing Day.  Make sure you let your college or university know you plan to attend by completing the Intent to Register.

For up-to-date information, please check out our website at www.clevelandhs.org, Like us on Facebook at Grover Cleveland Charter High School or follow us on Instagram and Twitter.

Week of April 20th:

The District has put out new grading guidelines for the remainder of the semester.  Teachers will be sharing specifics for their course through Schoology. We would like to remind all students to keep up with their online classwork.  Note that any student getting a D will automatically be enrolled in online summer school this year.  Additionally, getting a “U” in work habits or cooperation on the final report card in any class will impact a student’s ability to participate in ASB leadership and various senior-service organizations such as Knights and Ladies and Senior Board, be a student TA, obtain a college or scholarship recommendation, and much more. So please don’t fall behind.

Ninth, 10th, and 11th grade students interested in taking an AP class this fall: some of our teachers will be offering Zoom meetings next week to go over course expectations and any summer assignments.  The schedule of sessions will be posted later this week on Schoology.

Academic Decathlon is looking for an amazing group of students interested in an intellectual challenge. Applications are due April 27.

Seniors, a survey will be going out soon to all class of 2020 students regarding graduation and other senior-related items.  When you get it, please complete the form so we can get your input.

As Disneyland has cancelled Grad Nite, PTSA will be mailing refund to all seniors who purchased a ticket.  More information is forthcoming.

An AP Exam Refund Form is available on the CHS College Office website at chscollegeoffice.org or you can access it through the Cleveland HS website under offices; click on College Office. Please note you may not receive your refund until at least June due to school closures.
