Year 1987
Memoir I transferred to Cleveland Humanities Magnet in 1985 from Dorsey High as a junior. This was a big change for me, but I was embraced by all and had a FABO time!! I absolutely loved Cleveland. We had so much school spirit. I loved the Friday night games and wearing my signature red CHUCKS and those skin tight jeans, black stirrups or mini skirts. Wearing the RED BLACK and WHITE was a way of life. I remember the BSU and that production we put on for Black History in which Ant Washington was Martin Luther and Oscar and the rest of us were picking cotton waiting on news of our freedom LOL. The KDAY noon jams!! Y'all remember the pee wee herman and the wop. So many good times.... I found one of the best friends ever in life Kelly Bowen Hyman.. that is my girl!! The night of the 1987 Clevelend Prom changed my life forever. Prom was at the Biltmore Hotel and Stand By Me and Holding Back the Years were our class songs. The after prom was at the Hard Rock Cafe in the Beverly Center. Good Times... Great Times actually. Mr. Lynn and his crazy philosphies, Willie Elder, Sharis Rivers, Pottery Class, Boy Drama!!,Drill Team, leadership, Knights & Ladies, working in the student store and staying after school riding the late bus home are things I will never ever forget. These things are priceless... thanks to all of you who shared those times with me and made them so special.
