Year 1981

Memoir I just had to put this in writing. In 1981 the mens soccer team only happend because of a very special teacher - Mr. Runyan, Drafting. You remember him. He had the Corvette that said "Getting Rich". He came to our practices, but the team coached themselves. Mr. Runyan did not know anything abut soccer!. Being a team mate with guys like, Scott Murry, Jaime Morquecho, Andy Petrow, Bradly Wagner, John Motto, Rob Lans,and Dan Hadfield was awsome. We were the first team to beat Poly High not once but twice! We scored a record 11 goals vs. Taft. We beat Chatsworth! Thanks to the cheer leaders (Susie Lauffer, Tangi Sanchez, Joyce Spurling, Susan Brandt, Jodi Blomquist, Laurie Burside, etc.) that came out to, well you know, cheer! We had guys from football, basketball, baseball and more come out and watch. It was the best time I had at Cleveland High. I can still picture the soccer field in the outfield of the baseball park. Thanks for the support, it meant more than you will ever know. P.S. I'm 45 and still playing :-)!!!
