Reduce Heat Islands - Cool Roofs

Cools RoofsThe roofs of the buildings have a coating to reflect the sun’s energy, instead of absorbing and radiating it into the occupied spaces below. This reduces the buildings’ cooling loads.

Lower cooling loads translate into cost savings for the school. When the buildings do not take on as much heat from the blazing summer sun, the air conditioning equipment doesn’t have to work as hard to keep our Cavaliers cool. This means a longer lifespan for the equipment and less electricity needed to run it.
