              In the 1860's there was a lot of weapon inventions because of the civil war. Since it was a war they were trying to find more efficient and cheaper ways to kill people to win the war. One usual weapon was the Cogswell Pepper Box Revolver it was a very famous pistol at the time. The Cogswell Pepper Box Revolver had a six shot revolving barrel which made it easier than a single shot pistol and you would have to go 6 bullets without reloading which was an upper hand for foot soldiers. Another pistol that was used that was very odd for that time was a bowie-like blade pistol. It was the first handgun the U.S navy ever used. It came with a 150" sword attached to the pistol its self right under the barrel for close combat. One of the most liked pistols of the civil war used by the U.S. Calvary was the .45 caliber Schofield single shot revolver. It had an 8" barrel, a wooden handle, and a top latch for easy reloading so it'll be faster than huge rifle but not as effective.
             Some of the riffles they used in the civil war were the Henry Repeating Rifle and the Enfield Three Band Percussion Rifle. The Henry Repeating Rifle was said to be able to shoot 45 shots per minute and held up to 15 rounds under the barrel. It had a .44 caliber rimfire cartridge. The Enfield Three Band Percussion Rifle was a big improvement from the Flintlock musket. Its over all length was 55 inches out.
              Most shotguns at this time were 16 gauges, with 30" barrels for the bullets. Most of the strong machine guns were mainly used by the confederates
