California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP)
At Cleveland Charter High School, our focus is on graduating all students college-prepared and career-ready. To help achieve that goal, along with all LAUSD and California schools, we are transitioning to new assessments called the Smarter Balanced Assessments.
The Smarter Balanced Assessments are the next-generation assessments that will measure the full understanding of the Common Core State Standards in Math and English language arts/literacy.
Students will take the online assessments on an LAUSD-provided electronic device, allowing students to use 21st century tools to build their technology skills as they prepare for college or a career.
The assessments are given annually to measure progress throughout the school year. The English and Mathematics assessments will include more complex "performance tasks," as well as the more traditional multiple-choice items. The assessments will be given using "computer adaptive testing," which means that the test adjusts to a student's ability by basing the difficulty of future questions on the student's previous answers. You can access the online Student Practice and Training Tests portal by clicking on the link at the bottom of this page.
The Practice Tests provide students with grade-specific testing experiences that are similar in structure and format to the Summative Assessments. The Training Tests provide students with the opportunity to quickly become familiar with the software and interface features. The Training Tests are organized by grade-bands.
Smarter Balanced is not supported by the Internet Explorer browser. Please use either Firefox or Chrome.
