Homecoming Friday!

The big day arrives and everyone dons costumes and...well....had a great time!!  You didn't have to be there to see how much fun they had.....but it was a lot of work too and everyone deserves a great big pat on the back for their effort!  The Art Club this year is really awesome!

9th Graders take the beach!

On an all out assault against the unwanted refuse they found at Santa Monica Beach our AOAT 9th graders took matters in hand and CLEANED IT UP!  On watchers marveled at all the junktrashrefuseunderwear they collected and threw away.  Kudos to them!

Mr. Fitzmorris Declares Independence

Students in Mr. Fitzmorris's class did their annual thing of redoing the Delcaration of Independence in their own words. This interdisciplinary project called for their English skills and their artistic abilities to present a successful interpretation of the old standard.

AOAT 11th Heal the Bay Project

The 11th Grade AOAT class did their part to patrol and clean the beach in Santa Monica. When they were done they did a chemistry experiment to study the water around the pier and even took out time to plan for a poem for their English class. All in all it was a productive and fun day.

AOAT 9th Grade Heals the Bay

The 9th Grade AOAT traveled to Santa Monica to do their part to pick up trash on the beach and keep the beach clean for coastal wild life.

The 2008 Make a Difference Program

Make A Difference is a program initiated by General Motors, establishing partnerships between secondary and post secondary organizations and the industry. The AOAT's partnership with the Art Center College of Design provided us the opportunity to be one of the two schools, outside Detroit, who were selected to participate in this program.

The Aoat Club's cool Frappachino's sold like.....well....hotcakes!! They were bought up almost faster than the hard working club members could make them and throughout the chaos, in the center of the storm but maintaining a sense of confident calm was the AOAT club treasurer, Garling collecting the money! The even was a great success and everyone had a great time. Congradulations club members.

11th Grade AOAT Heal the Bay!
The 11th Grade AOAT showed their community spirit and environmental concern by participating in the Heal the Bay project. Cleveland High School has officially adopted a section of Santa Monica Beach and three classes have participated this year in the beach clean up.

The AOAT Spring 2006 College Trip
This journey north to such campuses as Cal Berkeley, and the Art Institute in San Francisco was a unanimous success. A great time was had by all while being introduced to college life and possible options for future careers.

The Zuma Canyon Field Trip

AOAT students take a trip to Zuma Canyon in the Santa Monica Mountains and get in touch with preserving our natural resources.

Trip to Solstice Canyon National Recreation Area
In March, students participated in a volunteer work program at Solstice Canyon National Recreation Area, where rangers taught them about native versus invasive plants, the life cycle of trout, and how to identify various plants. Students helped pull weeds and plant native seedlings, and experienced first hand the beauty of our fragile environment. We shared a picnic lunch with the rangers and had time to play along a rushing creek before taking the bus back to school.
